Executive Director, Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Central Florida
Came to Greater Gainesville in June of 1987
What is something you wish you knew before moving here?
When we moved here 30 years ago, we were newly married – we did not have children. Gainesville is a fantastic place to raise a family. There are excellent restaurants, a thriving arts community, and the most compassionate and kind people live here.
What is your favorite local food?
Dragonfly Sushi & Saki Company has the best sushi in town – love that they change up their menu so frequently. Francesca’s Trattoria has delicious Northern Italian food and is a great place to go for a relaxing lunch or dinner.
Describe your ideal day in Greater Gainesville.
A perfect day is having a massage at Spa Royale with a friend, brunch at Saboré Restaurant, stopping by the Ronald McDonald House to thank volunteers or a Visiting Chef group, and preparing a delicious dinner for my incredible husband, Joel.
It has been a lot of fun to think about why I love this community. Having lived here so long, it is easy to take for granted the amenities we have in this wonderful community. From the moment Joel and I arrived in Gainesville 30 years ago, we knew it would become our home. We have raised two incredible children here and are so excited to expect the arrival of our first grandchild in March 2018. We are so fortunate that our children continue to live here so we can experience all the excitement this community has to offer.
